Flower ID

I recently saw this unusually shaped flower at a garden restaurant in Guerneville, CA. The flower petals looked like it was part of a velvety lady's dress. The plant has dark berry-like fruits as well. Please let me know if anyone has an idea of its name. Many thanks!
