I just received my shipment of a selection of bulbs from Bulbs Direct and I'm really excited to plant them in the backyard this week. The spring mix included alliums, tulips, daffodils, anemones, and crocuses and I tried to get a more blue and purple color tone to balance the reds and yellows of assorted flowers that I'll be planting from seeds in the spring.
This past weekend, I spent a back-breaking afternoon digging up the tiny strip of soil in the yard, picking through large stones and filling them in with garden soil. This week, I'll have to figure out an aesthetic configuration for planting the spring bulbs and also a game plan to prevent the hungry squirrels from getting to them... Suggestions are welcome!
